Club Etiquette

Journal Entry: Sat Dec 23, 2006, 9:44 AM

Things to Keep in Mind

Many club members probably do not realize that there is a set of general club etiquette that should be obeyed in this club as well as others. We have previously received complaints of members (names will not be listed) which have called for the addition of this journal.

Following is a list of club etiquette that should be followed when submitting, commenting, critiquing, and sending notes, etc.

Degradation

Whatever you do, do NOT degrade anyone nor anyone's art. If they ask for critique, then give them critique - however, keep in mind...

Critique is not: "I like the concept but its badly done."
Critique is: "I like the concept that has been used here, but next time you might want to try to use a different texture or color, make more stars, try a different landscape... etc."

Critique will help an artist get better, not make them feel worse.

Politeness

Be polite. This is a pretty self-explanatory guideline. Don't embarrass yourself by not following it.

Sarcasm

Rude sarcasm will not be tolerated. It is hard enough to detect when someone is being sarcastic online because no tone of voice is heard. So be especially cautious when you're being rude and using sarcasm.

Spam

Just don't. Simple enough.

Common Sense

Use your common sense. If something you're thinking of isn't on this list, that doesn't make it okay to do. And if someone thinks of something that should be added to this list, let us know.

Victims

Please! if you are a victim of any of the above behavior, let #Space-Club know. Send #Space-Club a note and we will deal with the situation best as possible. Our goal is to have a beneficial community, not a degrading one.

Anyone who dismisses the above as childish crap and refuses to obey will receive punishment. You will get a warning and then be released from the club if you continue to ignore our club etiquette.

The club would like to personally apologize to those who have already received and witnessed the childish behavior of some of our club members. Again, please let us know who needs to be taken care of.

Lizzys..... This is a very important matter and I praise you for tackling it like a pro. No member of any club should be allowed to belittle the work of other members (period).

As you explained above, Critique is not simply a matter of stating, "I hate it, it sucks" and then move along to insult the next artist or member.

If someone does not like something they need to explain how they would have done it differently and why their way is better than someone else's.

Considering that "ART" is open to interpretation, noone but the artist who created it has the right to dismiss their own work as crap... All artists are free spirits and we will express ourselves as we wish. The colors, textures, subject matter, etc... is only relevant to the artist.

The childlike, hit and run, harassing one liners like "this sucks I hate it" or "your gallery sucks" etc... Serves no purpose and is in no way shape or form constructive, professional or beneficial to the artist or to this club and it's members.

Again, I commend you for bringing this matter to all of the club's members.

Now, If you'll excuse me I have a Christmas party to attend.

Merry Christmas and best Wishes to ALL this Holiday Season!

Peace.....

The club's adminstrators are not here to pick and choose what "YOU" may deem as "quality". All images submitted to ANY club is released as long as it meets the club's guidelines and does not violate DA's Terms Of Service Agreement, etc.... Space Club's submission policy is Listed Here.

How would you feel it if your submissions to this club were denied because someone didn't think that your work was of "quality" ???

The issue at hand is something far more important. That being proper online etiquette, mutual courtesy and something called professionalism... Please do not attempt to derail the severity of this matter as you will find that your behaviour and conduct online, preceeds your talents, no matter how big or small it may be. Your attitude is more important and all of the members of this club (myself included) don't care whether your artwork sucks or not, it's your attitude towards other members that is being measured here. Not your talent, or lack thereof.

Sincerely,

Dan Sanchez -
